Now onto the Emblems.
The beaver is the animal emblem. This is because in the olden days people killed them so that they could make hats. Before they started this beaver fur trade there were 6 million beavers in Canada, but by the end the furry creature was critically endangered. When the fur trade stopped Canada made the Beaver it's emblem (maybe as a way to say sorry!). The beaver is also on the Canadian nickel.
Now, I'm not giving any prizes out to who guesses what the floral emblem is (I'll give you a clue, the Canadians are obsessed with it)

It's the maple leaf!!
It's said that the maple leaf has been the emblem of Canada since the 1700's and that before that the natives used the sap of the maple tree as food, which got me thinking..........
